After ensuring that the fruits are good to make juice, squeezing the life out of the fruits is not a hard task whatsoever. All you must know how is how to use a citrus juicer. Here, it depends on the type of juicer you are using. However, it is advisable to use a simple reamer which has a cone and two handles. Let’s say you are using a citrus press which happens to be the best choice. It makes sure that your hands do not get in contact with the citric acid squirted. Before you mount the fruit on the juicer, cut the fruit a bit off-center. You can cut lengthwise or clockwise depending on how it fits in the cone. Then;
Mount the fruit onto the squeezer
If you are using a lemon, place the cut side facing down on the cone-shaped side of the citrus press. By this, you ensure that the dome-shaped side of the squeezer presses the fruit right, and the extract pours on a bowl below the presser. This is the most effective way since, if you put the cut side facing upwards, the juice may squirt upwards and spill making it hard to collect the extract.
Bring the handles together
Hold the loader citrus press over a collecting bowl. Hold the cone sided handle with one hand while the dome sided cone with the other hand. Make the dome shape side more pressing and bring the handle close together. You will know that you have eked all the juice once you can hold both the handles with one hand. Depending on the amount of juice you want, you can collect more in another bowl if the first one fills up.
Squeeze the handles
Have a grip of the handles with one hand. Then, place the other hand on top of the other one and press with both hands. Keep pressing until no more juice drops to the bowl. Once all the juice is out, the rind of the fruit will almost turn inside out. Repeat the procedure on different citrus fruits depending on the juice you want to make.
