Many people who have read some of my post have asked me if I could write something about App Controlled toys for a home school site. Let me say that I chanced on a reader who had designed a site for home schooling and needed some thoughts on app controlled toys.
What is home Schooling?
Home schooling has become popular and many parents are making the effort to change from the normal public and private school system we have. Home Schooling is the practice where parents try to educate their child or children at home outside the traditional schools.
Home School Sites
There are many home school sites you can access important educational information. I would like to talk about an important application you will need to have at home.
If you are going to teach your child at home, you must remember that, the child need to be taught to use the whole body. You develop his total person. The head, heart, mind, hands and reasoning.
App Controlled Toys
If you plan teaching your child at home, you need to find toys at home. They must be toys that can inspire the child to be creative. Child must be shaped to creative in their thinking, they must be able to solve problems and again have the flexibility in thinking to take an action because, to every problem, there is the likelihood of having different answers. These are the reasons why you will need one or two app controlled toys at home.
Ozobot: A dancing and racing robot is now accessible, thanks to Ozobot. It allows your child to develop coding & STEM skills by using colours to interact with this tiny robot that stands at just over an inch. The makers claim that Ozobot is teacher recommended and included in the curriculum of 2000 schools. Hard to argue with that!
Osmo Genius Kit: This award winning kit encourages your child’s creativity and stimulates their problem solving skills as well. According to the makers, the unique Reflective AI technology employed by Osmo (which is quite cool actually!) allows the iPad to understand its surroundings and convey the motion and movements performed by your hands to the elements inside the app. With word puzzles, drawing, tangram and extensions, Osmo can keep your kids busy for hours.
Snap Circuits Motion Electronics Discovery Kit: Now kids can learn while they play with this set that allows them to explore 165 projects. The best part is that kids can gradually increase the complexity of projects by starting out with easy setups that demonstrate how electricity can be turned on and off and progress to more elaborate stuff such as motion detectors with light sensors. You can also allow them to connect the unit to a smart phone and perform basic analysis and manipulations of sounds.
There are a lot of these app controlled toy kits and remote toys that you can find on the market which is going to help your child develop that cognitive and locomotive mind and abilities as you train him or her at home.
